The Pensive Alchemist
-
Imagine you live hundreds of years ago. You are driven by a passion to study the Art of Alchemy. You have only the tools of your time,
your untried wits, and a secreted text to lead your way. Your heart saddens as you see that you will spend a lifetime in pursuit of something
mired in misleading prose, you will stumble through perplexing imagery, and you will hide from those who fear your quest and misunderstand it.
When and if you reach your goal, what will it bring you? Eternal life? Spiritual supremacy? Mystical powers beyond belief?
Conjoinment with the true nature of life itself? Will you really make it to the end successfully and not kill yourself in the process?
Unsure and with trembling fingers, you open the stolen text and rifle through the richly symbolic passages, forbidden imagery,
and unheard of challenges. You stoke your soul with desire to reach the very stars themselves. Drifting over the cryptic legends
and spell-like formulas, you ponder the pictures and imagine yourself living the Alchemist's Ancient Quest.
Touch each image at the right, and ask yourself..
Do I not have this very same passion?
The alchemists of today may disagree with you, they themselves caught up in a ritualistic, pedantic cataloging and deciphering
of ambiguous documents echoing a darker age when secrecy and diversion hearld survival at any cost.
These alchemists and spiritualists of today who have spend their lifetimes so far jumping through countless hoops,
now in turn, hold these hoops for their initiates to jump through.
Only we, bypassing this drudgery with the possibility of White Gold just inches beyond our eager reach,
we will no longer need to jump through any hoops. What will happen to us then?
Will we become the AOL of Spirit?
